Consensual Relationship Agreement Case Study Tracy Duckett Dr. Ronnie Jones Bus. 520 Leadership and Organizational Behavior Fall Quarter 2012 Abstract It is not uncommon that an office romance will develop between co-workers; based on the fact that majority of their lifetime is spent at their place of employment. Employers are aware of this possibility and have workplace romance policies to protect themselves and the parties in the relationship. Consensual Relationship Agreements (CRAs) are one of the policies that protect the company and the parties involved from the outcome of the relationship ending that could result into sexual harassment claims or bad publicity. If the relationship is ended by one of the individuals and the other disagrees and begins harassing them at work, this would be considered harassment. â€Å"At this point, the company would step in when notified and try to do something about it,† stated Lewis (2002). This pro tects the employer from a sexual harassment lawsuit as they protect the person being harassed. CRA’s are definitely necessary to protect employers from office romances that end badly by asking the parties involved to agree that their relationship is voluntary and consensual as well as agree with the company’s sexual harassment policy. It helps minimize the employer’s liability if the relationship ends badly and it develops into a harassment claim. Lynn D. There’s a lot of talk about Rack, but unless you’re a framework author yourself, you rarely see it. So what is Rack? And why, as an application developer, should you care about it? Rack Basics Rack is a kind of middleware. It sits between your web application and the web server. It handles all of the server-specific API calls, passes on the HTTP request and all the environment parameters in a hash, and gives your application’s response back to the server. In other words, your application doesn’t need to know how to talk to an HTTP server, it needs to know how to talk to Rack. Advantages of Rack This has a number of advantages. First, talking to Rack is easy (as you’ll see below). Second, since you only need to know how to talk to Rack, and Rack knows how to talk to many different HTTP servers, your application will run on any of these HTTP servers. Rack is like a universal adapter for web applications. The Rack applications themselves are nothing special. In fact, the Rack API is so dead simple, it can be described in a single sentence: A Rack application is any Ruby object that responds to the call method, takes a single hash parameter and returns an array containing the response status code, HTTP response headers and the response body as an array of strings. That’s pretty much it. It sounds too simple to be true, or at least too simple to be useful, but when it really comes down to it, that’s all you’re really doing when you’re talking to HTTP servers. Why Is Rack Important? But on to the real question: Why, as an application programmer, should you care about Rack? Well first, there’s always enlightenment in understanding how your framework works. But more importantly, there are useful things you can do with Rack. Most importantly: middleware. Now, this sounds a bit odd. But an extra layer between your application and Rack can be a good thing, and implement features that would only clutter your application. What this middleware does is simply take the request from Rack, pass it on to your application, get its response, add something to it or filter it or something along these lines and then pass the response back to Rack. This can be used to implement very interesting little features like a server-agnostic logger, or a request sanity checker, or a little middleware that emails an admin every time your application comes back with a 404. None of these features need to clutter up your application, they can be implemented as middleware with Rack.

This passage describes Heathcliff as being miserable, lying in his death bed while yearning for his love, Catherine. The narrator, Nelly, is telling readers of the last few days of Heathcliff’s life and all he seems to think about is Catherine. It would degrade me to marry Heathcliff now; so he shall never know how I love him: and that, not because hes handsome, Nelly, but because hes more myself than I am. Even though Catherine loved Heathcliff with all her heart, her family and friends probably would’ve been very upset if she were to marry Heathcliff. Wealth was much more important than love in society’s eyes. Catherine describes her soul as being made of the same material as Heathcliff’s. The diction she used created a lot of passion and emotion for the reader to take in. By saying this, Catherine was implying that they were meant to be but were forbidden to be together because of the rivalry between families and because of Heathcliff’s poor status. â€Å"Well, if I cannot keep Heathcliff for my friendif Edgar will be mean and jealous, Ill try to break their hearts by breaking my own. That will be a prompt way of finishing all, when I am pushed to extremity! This quote is said by Catherine. Her point by saying this is to make Heathcliff and Edgar feel heartbroken by making herself miserable. Catherine thought by taking things to extremes, it would solve everything and make them feel bad for her. I had a strong reaction to this. I immediately thought, â€Å"how stupid could she be? † This tactic of hers will not solve anything! It will just make everyone miserable. This also happens in modern day.
